• I have two weblogs where I post Bible readings. One repeats monthly and the other annually. In each weblog, I create a new post for the daily reading then copy and paste from the old post a month or a year ago using the WordPress editor into the new one.

I tried using the block editor in WordPress 5 for a month or so but was having too many problems with it. After some searching, I found the Classic Editor plugin and am using it, but am having problems with posts now. I think this is an issue with posts that were created by the new editor.

Two screen shots are linked below that demonstrate the problem. The first is after I’ve copied and pasted the text into the new post but before I click the Safe Draft button. The second is what I get after I click the Safe Draft button.

I’ve found that I can reselect and recopy all but the first line of the old post and paste it into the new one after deleting the mis-formatted text and it appears okay, but I don’t think that is actually correcting the problem.

What can I do to get this issue out of my weblog and clean up my posts? Thank you for any help you can offer.

  • I found that same problem on many of my pages after the wp5 and block editor. Even installing the classic editor plugin didn’t get everything back to normal.

The editor is a critical aspect to wp. Amazingly so. I’ve tried cutting and pasting pdf files and it didn’t understand the formatting. But it does seem to understand the formatting of msft word files…

Anyway, in your case, just add <br /> at the end of ea line, that will cause the next line to start on a new line.

    cheers

Has anyone else experienced writing a post only to have the right hand side disappear? Split down the middle, although the right sidebar still functions. Almost like there’s a second missing column? I can’t find anywhere else to ask a question. I know nothing about coding and what I’m currently experiencing is turning me off my website. Someone please help!
