• I recently cutover my site to WordPress. There are many sites such as WikiPedia that have links to my old sites pages. Now, after cutting over to WP all those links on those other sites are invalid. I tried to edit my permalinks to match my old page links but all of my old pages end with .html and WP is changing this automatically to -html when I try to edit the permalink. Any fix for this? Any forwarding or redirecting that can be done?

  • Out of the box WordPress allows you to put extensions on posts, but not pages. To add extensions to pages, you can use a plugin. There are others, but this one (which is mine) allows you to pick any extension you want whereas most have a predefined selection.

Note that the permalinks for posts and pages should match i.e. both should be configured to have the same extension.
