My website already has Google’s manually coded snippets for Adsense, Google Tag Manager, Google analytics, etc… Do I have to remove all of them before installing this plugin? Or it can work together with already existing snippets? Will it slow down the loading, because the snippets will be produced twice at loading?
What is the advantage/disadvantage of having this plugin compared to the manually coded snippets?
    Thank you!

  • @igb10 thanks for your questions!

While we generally recommend using Site Kit’s snippets where possible, you can certainly keep your manually placed snippets and choose not to insert those from Site Kit.

Depending on how they are placed, Site Kit has auto-detection of already placed snippets and will prevent double insertion. You can manage whether or not Site Kit inserts its snippets under the settings (Site Kit > Settings) for the services.

Keep in mind that if you have advanced configurations (such as eCommerce tracking, remarketing) Site Kit’s Analytics snippet may not support this at this time so it would be better to keep your current configuration.

In terms of performance, both methods are the generally the same as long as you’re implementing the recommended code for the services.

We’re happy to review your configuration if you need any help along the way.

What is the advantage/disadvantage of having this plugin compared to the manually coded snippets?

You’ll be able to make use of Site Kit’s streamlined data dashboards to get insights right in your WordPress dashboard.
