I believe the Search Results template works a bit differently as you can’t have a different one for each kind of searched results or something like that.
With that in mind, I don’t see how it would be possible to do what you want. You would likely need a plugin that extends to search capability for something like that.

Thank you, I spent some time reading the docs (and still reading…).
It looks like it’s not possible.
But to clone a template (to have a spare backup), and please correct me if I am wrong:
You would have to copy the content and create a pattern, then paste the pattern in the newly created template. This is useful if you want to check the default setting on the original template and re-apply some of it in the new template; instead or resetting the template to default everytime. Does it make sense?
You can only have one search template (unless you install a plugin like WooCommerce that has a custom built search template for the products).
But you don’t need to clone this template to save a backup. The file in your theme folder is already working as a backup.
When you go to Appearance > Editor > Templates, select search and make changes, WordPress saves those changes in the database.
This means that the HTML file in the theme folder is not overwritten.
You can revert all the changes you have made by going to
Appearance > Editor > Templates > Manage all templates, locate the search template, and open the action menu: the menu with the three dots.
Select “Clear customizations”.
If you have copied blocks, you only need to create a new pattern if you want to re-use those blocks with the same settings, in multiple places.
Otherwise you can just use copy and paste.

Thanks Carolina, yes I spotted all this already. It’s just that this theme is a bit confusing to me (and others…), still reading the doc and not everything makes sense — we need more clear videos on the topic, with real life scenarios. And yes, I watched all the YouTube videos already.
For the record, I have used and built sites with Oxygen, Elementor pro, and Themify not name a few, and was able to learn their interface-thanks to YouTube videos and the doc.
Now I would like to ‘try’ to stick with the WordPress native theme (if possible…) but there are few limitations. For example, I still haven’t find a way to implement 3 x break points with the Query loop, this should be simple. It’s hard coded with 2 x break points, I looked at the CSS and it’s alien territory to me. Going from 3 or 4 x columns straight to 1 doesn’t make any sense at all design wise, visually and technically—this is my biggest issue right now.
