Hello! I have just noticed that the “Cash on delivery” payment method takes a long time to complete the order.

Does anybody know what is it due to?

I have optimized my site as much as possible, however when customers click on “Place order” with the payment method “Cash on delivery” it can take up to 20 seconds to complete the order.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi there,

It sounds like there might be a misunderstanding here. The order status will only ever be marked as “Completed” whenever the shop owner manually changes it.

The reason is that with “Cash on Delivery”, it literally means someone will be delivering the order manually and there’s no way for WooCommerce to know when an offline delivery has taken place and whether they received any cash.

The auto-update of the order status can only be achieved with payment gateways that notify WooCommerce immediately as soon as payment has been made successfully.

Hello! I think I did not know how to explain well.

I know that when an order is placed with “Cash on delivery” it will be processed.

It is I who have to pass the order to completed.

What I mean is that from the moment the customer clicks on “Place order” until they reach the thank you page it takes a long time.

    On average 15-30 seconds.

    Hey @rebajaslocascom,

    Thanks for clarifying!

I’d suggest carrying out a conflict test in your site to see if the process completes any faster. It could be another plugin’s code that is initiated during the checkout process which is causing the transaction to take so long.

This document below offer guidance on how to conflict test on a WordPress installation. Ideally, you will want to test with WooCommerce as the only activated plugin and a theme like Storefront.

Let’s see if you experience the same delay with that configuration.
