Hi @fgp, thanks for opening a support topic. I’d be happy to help you with this. To understand the situation in more details, please can you share the following:

    1. Your Site Health information. You can use this form to share privately if preferred.
    2. Have you recently performed a site migration, changed your domain or changed your WP admin path?
    3. After performing a Site Kit reset do you experience the same issue?
    4. Do you encounter the same loop when following the troubleshooting steps here?

Any recordings you can share would also help us with this. Let me know if you have any questions on the above.

@fgp I can see that you have shared your Site Health Information so thanks for that. I can’t see anything immediately standing out here but could you also please provide the information for points 2, 3 and 4 from my reply above? This will help me to narrow down a potential cause and suggest some extra steps for you to try next.

In the meantime I will continue to check your information to see if I can find anything. Let me know if you have any questions at this stage.

@fgp Glad to hear that your Analytics is now working as expected. Please could you share the exact URL you land on when you are directed to the wp-login page?

    Hi Adam the URL is:

    https://www.umbria24.it/wp-login.php?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.umbria24.it%2Fwp%2Fwp-admin%2Findex.php%3Faction%3Dgooglesitekit_proxy_exchange_site_code%26googlesitekit_code%3Dsitekit-ywLfv7nuUncLCX2jbKCitC%26googlesitekit_site_code%3D4%252F0AeaYSHB0DE_VGJdViygcWHO36iWQpkb-g5IOjtlmwuOdsKQ1BQjoem3DEHvvLs6y1blXAg%26nonce%3D5f563161a7%26step%3Dverification&reauth=1

I share with you what our dev team did and wrote to me:

“we connected GA via the script while we work with our contacts at Google to get Site Kit working. For some reason, Site Kit has an incorrect version of the site URL and the reset process isn’t properly clearing it. We’ll need them to clear it on the Google Side for us.

Once that’s fixed, we’ll connect Site Kit and remove the script.”

@fgp Thanks for sharing the callback URL. This does indeed look like your site records may be mismatched and that there is a different record saved on the Site Kit service.

We can certainly check this for you and reset your records if needed. Leave this with me and once I get an update back from the team I will let you know here.

@fgp As expected there was a mismatch with your records. These have now been reset so could I please ask you to try Site Kit setup once more and let me know if you are able to complete the setup?

    (@fgp)

Hi Adam, tried to redo setup and I was able to move some steps forward but in the end i get an error, see the linked screenshot: https://paste.pics/QPRMF

@fgp Sorry to hear you are still unable to complete the setup but glad we have been able to make some progress here. Unfortunately the link you have shared for the screenshot does not work for me. Could you try sending this again?

Adam, the error is displayed in the WordPress dashboard and the message is:

    “Error connecting Site Kit

Unable to authenticate Site kit, as no client credentials exist”

@fgp Thanks for sharing the error message you are now seeing. Could you first try performing a Site Kit reset and try to set up the plugin once more? If you still encounter the issue let me know and we can look at some further steps for you to take.

We have seen this reported previously with different solutions found in different support topics. But rest assured we will continue to work with you to find a solution for you. Let me know if you have any questions.

Finally the Newspack team reset the plugin and I was able to reconnect it. Now I would like to enable the Consent mode. Do you have advice for this?

    Plugin Support Adam Dunnage

    (@adamdunnage)

@fgp It’s great to hear that you have been able to connect Site Kit after a plugin reset. Please visit our consent mode page for more information on when you should be using consent mode and instructions on how to set it up within Site Kit.

If you do have any further questions after following the guide then I will be happy to help with those.
