Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

    Thanks for your reply, t-p.

I was just about to tackle this issue when I decided to finish a blog post first. Having logged in on my laptop through Siteground, I found that I could no longer add images to my blog posts – the box goes red and I get a “No Data Supplied” error message.

Clearing the cache/cookies didn’t change anything for either the log in issue or the image issue.

I logged in on my phone instead (zero problems) and added the image with no trouble whatsoever.

When I returned to the post on my laptop (again, through Siteground), the image that I added on my phone was saved and present on the post. (Replacing it, however, was not possible.)

I’m reluctant to start messing with plugins and themes because I don’t know what I’m doing with them. And if this was an issue with the theme or plugins, wouldn’t it affect WP on my phone as well as on my laptop?

    Thanks again for your patience!

Update: I’ve just spent hours writing a post. Saved it as a draft only to find that WP hasn’t saved it at all.

So now I can’t log in through the domain/wp-admin page, can’t add images to posts, and can’t save drafts.

Does anyone know what’s going on and what I’m supposed to do?

    Thanks.

    Any error message?

Please check the error logs on your server for a more specific error message, which may give a clue to why this is happening on your website/server. If you need help locating them, ask your hosting provider to help you with that.

If you cannot find error logs or if you don’t find any helpful info in the error logs, enable debugging. See: https://wordpress.org/support/article/debugging-in-wordpress/

remember to put things back to normal afterwards.

    Hi t-p,

After doing some digging around, it turned out to be a Bitdefender update.

I don’t think it’s getting on with my laptop. Once I removed it, WP-admin signed me in just fine. Drafts started to save again, and images were added successfully to posts.

I don’t know how Bitdefender caused so much mess, but it seems to be working fine now.

    Thanks for your help 🙂
