I just find it so much harder to work now after the upgrade. Why remove the check box? It was an easy way to mark all rows. It’s harder to move rows up and down and highlight them etc. 🙁

  • After I updated to the new TablePress, the buttons no longer respond.
Like the Delete Row button and the Save button. So I could not save my changes.

Fortunately, I was able to restore the old version from a backup and can still continue working. I am now waiting for a new update.

    Hi @danniee001 and @vg-sumadi,

thanks for getting in touch, and sorry for the trouble!

@danniee001: I totally understand that a changed user interface can be frustrating and challening! In my opinion, the checkboxes are no longer needed, really, and marking all rows is much easier now: You can just select any cell in the row, even with the keyboard while holding down the Shift key, and then perform the desired action (even with the context menu!). For me and many others, this is much more intuitive.

As more moving rows, this is also still possible, by clicking, holding, and dragging a small area on the right edge of the very left cell (the one with the row number). You should notice it by the cursor changing to a cross there. I’ll be working on making that area bigger!
Alternatively, you could even select all cells in a row (or in multiple rows at once!) and use the Cut (via Ctrl/Cmd+X on the keyboard) and Paste (Ctrl/Cmd+V) features to move cells to a new place.

@vg-sumadi: Sorry about that. This actually sounds more like a JavaScript conflict problem, which could also be caused by another plugin. Therefore, it’s likely not something that will suddenly just work after another TablePress update. If possible, I’d like to take a direct look at this on your site. Could you therefore please get in touch via email (the address is on https://tablepress.org/impressum/ ? That way, I can investigate this directly. Thanks!

    Regards,
    Tobias

I have been using this plugin for years, now I log in to create a simple table and nothing works. I can’t save and the interface is all screwed up. How do I revert back? It is totally unusable for me.

@tobiasbg actually you are right. Tried it out a bit more and makes total sense now. Thank you.

    Hi @jharris68,

I’m really sorry to hear that you are having problems, and I’ll do my best to help! While reverting (the download link is on this page), I’d much rather assist with fixing this, as it’s likely coming from some incompatibility. If possible, I’d like to take a direct look at this on your site. Could you therefore please get in touch via email (the address is on https://tablepress.org/impressum/ )? That way, I can investigate this directly. Thanks!

@danniee001: Great to hear that 🙂 I really appreciate your feedback!

    Best wishes,

    Hi everyone,

thanks for your patience and for reporting this!

A fix for this is now also available in TablePress 2.0.1 that I just released. Updating is recommended.

For more details about that release, please see the announcement.

    Best wishes,
    Tobias

    @tobiasbg Me again, why can’t I select different rows like row 5, row 10, and row 12?? If I use shift I can only select like 1, 2, 3, 4 but not 1, 2, 5, 10.

Also, dragging rows is not working too well in Firefox at least. It’s very strange behavior.

And working with batches of rows and trying to move them when you have big tables is a pain. Right click, move down, right click move down, right click…why isn’t there like a speed button down, down, down, down. Using the button at the bottom, I don’t see what I am doing as I have 60+ rows.

    Hi @danniee001,

you are right, at this time, it’s not possible to select different rows like that in one batch. Right now, they have to be connected. This is something that I’m working on and hope to be able make possible again in a future version!

As for dragging in Firefox: I just tested this again, but can’t really find differences to e.g. dragging in Chrome (both do however seem to have a glitch when the rows have different height, which is also something that I’m looking into).

And thanks for the feedback regarding moving multiple rows! I absolutely do see that this needs improvement!

    Best wishes,
    Tobias

    Hi @danniee001,

    quick update for this already:

And working with batches of rows and trying to move them when you have big tables is a pain. Right click, move down, right click move down, right click…why isn’t there like a speed button down, down, down, down. Using the button at the bottom, I don’t see what I am doing as I have 60+ rows.

The next version will have keyboard shortcuts for this. You can then press Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + ↑/↓/←/→ on the keyboard for moving the currently select rows up or down, or the currently selected columns left or right (just like with the buttons below the table or the context menu). But the keyboard shortcut can of course be pressed multiple times in a row to quickly move rows or columns multiple times.

    I hope this will help!

    Best wishes,
    Tobias
