• Hello.

A string (‘Available Items‘) from Kadence customizer is not displayed translated (tested with Dutch language):

The file “wp-content/languages/themes/kadence-nl_NL-1b7bebf08e54e78000da3049c5c8193a.json” with the translations is not loaded.

    Thanks.

  • Hi there!

Thanks for reaching out to us about this.

I checked the Dutch translations for the Kadence theme and I can see that the strings should be translated – https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-themes/kadence/nl/formal/

You can filter it and see the string translation like this – click this link.

I’ll check this further and send you another update once I have more information as to why they’re not showing the correct translations.

    Hello @karlalevelup

    Thank you for your reply.

I just wanted to let you know that the tests I’m doing that highlighted the problem were done with the Dutch language (default) and that is nl_NL, but the problem occurs because the .json file with the translations failed to load and does not concern a single language or variant.

I await your update and thank you again.

    Hi there!

It took a while for tests, but I figured that reverting to WordPress 6.5.5 fixes the translations. You can test this out on a test website:

    1. Install a plugin like Core Rollback.
    2. Go to Dashboard > Tools > Rollback Core and select 6.5.5.
    3. Check the strings again after the downgrade and you should see that the strings are in Dutch:

I’ve created a report for our team to check this further. I’ll test it too once WordPress 6.6.2 and see if the issue will be fixed there.

I’ll reach out again once I have more info.

    Hello @karlalevelup

I tried it too and it’s exactly like that. And unfortunately it seems to me that the problem is also with version 6.6.2-RC1.

The strange thing is that if I copy these three .json files generated by translate.wordpress.org:

    kadence-nl_NL-1b7bebf08e54e78000da3049c5c8193a.json

    kadence-nl_NL-2ad0d5343cc37a24844ae64bb8725753.json

    kadence-nl_NL-9b95ef7a6f1b3dc8c9c872211d7c3deb.json

from path “wp-content/languages/themes/” to path “wp-content/languages/plugins/“, translations are displayed regularly!

I would say that strangely in versions 6.6.x, .json files with translations for both themes and plugins are only looked for in this location!

    Thanks.

P.S. It seems to be due to this change…

is it possible that no one noticed?
