• I installed AMP for WordPress 3 days ago and the results were really good other than showing an error in the structured data. Today the website was showing a 500 internal error and I couldn’t do anything on the website. After uninstalling the plugin from the website it works as usual. Any ideas of why this occurs? I really want to use the AMP but I don’t feel like risking my website every other 3 days.

Thank you very much for your help

  • Hi.
Same problem occurred with me 3 times.
Whenever I activate the plugin, my site went down giving internal server error 500.
I do not know why this error came.
But solution is, when your site went down, simply go to cpanel and rename your .htaccess file.
    Your site will work again.
Then generate new .htaccess file by saving pearmalinks. Then you can delete renamed .htaccess file and no need to uninstall plugin.
    The site should run normally.

The error code 500 (Internal error) can have a lot of different reasons, but in many cases it’s some kind of misconfiguration. in .htaccess.

If you’ve got not special functionality in .htaccess, then yes, one thing you can try is removing/renaming .htaccess and then let WordPress generate a new copy by re-saving your permalink settings.

But other root causes are also possible. Typically, the problem actually lies outside of WordPress itself. It may be useful talking to your hosting provider, too.
