Irans' and the United States' history of relations is full of tensions, hostility, and bitterness. Since overthrowing the Mohammad Reza Shah in 1979, who came to power in 1954 with the help of CIA that is said to take an active part in designing the military overthrow of the Iranian democratic nationalist government of Dr. Mohammad Mosaddeq.1 Over the next years after the Islamic Revolution, US leaders and governments decided to maintain relations with the Islamic Republic on account of political, economic, and military interests. Nevertheless, the connections between the states were never normalized. With changing presidents over the decades, the US administration was following the same policy of confrontation.2 The slight change of approach towards the Islamic Republic was visible during the years of Barack Obama's presidency. As he spoke in his' State of the Union' speech, the safety of Americans lies in '(…) smarter approach, a patient and disciplined strategy (…)'3 when it comes to the other nations including Iran. Although Obama highlighted that during his administration relations between both countries were not perfect, his cabinet was tirelessly working on its improvement. He put a great deal of patience, time, and willingness to reach an agreement on Iran's nuclear capacity crowned with signing a multinational binding contract in 2015. During his speech on the Iran that took place on January 16, 2016, he highlighted positive outcomes of the 'Nuclear Deal' and the Islamic Republic meeting its obligations to ensure the peaceful usage of nuclear technology.4 It may seem that while stepping from his presidential office, Obama left an excellent ground for tightening and strengthening the peaceful and kind relations between the United States of America and Iran. However, since the year 2016, a lot has changed. Wining the 2016 elections as a republican candidate Donald Trump who officially took over the presidential office as the 45th president of The United States of America in January 2017, has a slightly different approach towards the US-Iran relations.5 Several issues make the Islamic Republic a significant threat in the eyes of Trump and his administration. However, Donald J. Trump is well known from his strong statements on Iran and 1 Sheikhneshin, Arsalan Ghorbani. "Iran and the US: Current Situation and Future Prospects."
