The authors discuss the role played by social media in improving the organizational processes of knowledge creating, sharing, and managing that are basilar to an effective human capital management. Accordingly, the chapter describes social media as a strategic tool to improve those soft and self-regulatory skills (e.g., selfefficacy and self-regulated learning) that are indispensable to allow a passage from individual to "social" learning, which is a core concept for organizational efficacy.

Managing Social and Human Capital in Organizations: Communities of Practices as Strategic Tools for Individual and Organizational Development

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to discuss the role of communities of practice in organizati... more Purpose The purpose of this paper is to discuss the role of communities of practice in organizations and their most beneficial effects for both individual and collective development. Design/methodology/approach Based on a literature review, from the first authoritative texts by Lave and Wenger until the most recent critiques, the paper has attempted to conciliate the individual and the organizational perspectives about this precious tool for knowledge management and creation. Findings Because of their distinctive features, a joint enterprise, a mutual engagement and a shared repertoire, if strategically managed, might resort to individual and organizational positive outcomes. From an individual perspective, communities could be beneficial in developing professional skills, a stronger sense of identity and finding continuity even during discontinuity and change. From an organizational perspective, communities of practice could help drive the strategy, start new lines of business, solve problems quickly and transfer best practices. Research limitations/implications Many limitations about this conceptualization have been presented. Therefore, future research should try to focus on communities within different socio-cultural contexts and within different kinds of organizations. Practical implications Practical implications about the use of communities of practice within organizational contexts are mainly linked to the enhancement of human and social capital seen as a strategic, although intangible, asset. Social implications The social implications of this paper are connected to the contribution to the discussion on the theme which is quite uncommon in human resource management research. Originality/value The value of this paper is the attempt to connect the communities of practice to human and social capital.

PROGRAMME DE RECHERCHE L'apport du numérique dans les processus d'enseignement-apprentissage perm... more PROGRAMME DE RECHERCHE L'apport du numérique dans les processus d'enseignement-apprentissage permet des formes d'engagement et de participation des apprenants nouvelles qui interrogent les métiers de l'enseignement de l'éducation et de la formation professionnelle. Les activités des formateurs comme celles de leur public s'en trouve profondément modifiées (Genevois & Poyet, 2010). Les formateurs jouent un rôle important dans la mise en place de pratiques innovantes dans la formation des enseignants. On considère que la formation mixte peut être un espace dans lequel des compétences professionnelles seront développées. QUESTIONNE DE RECHERCHE : Comment des formateurs utilisent les artefacts (capsules vidéo, module de formation, forum, Tchat) en ligne pour soutenir leur apprentissage et créer de nouvelles connaissances sur leurs pratiques professionnelles ? L'efficacité du modèle mixte dans la formation des formateurs d'enseignants : Le project BLTeae OBJECTIVE DU PROJECT DE FORMATION : Le projet a pour objectif de développer des compétences au sein des institutions partenaires d'enseignement supérieur. Ce développement passe par la constitution d'une communauté de réflexion sur les pratiques de formation universitaire d'une part, et d'autre part, de l'usage d'outils pédagogiques destinés à soutenir l'acquisition de compétences pour la formation des enseignants. « Cours mixtes pour les formateurs d'enseignants entre l'Asie et l'Europe » Coordonné par l'ESPE d'Aix-Marseille et supporté par l'Union européenne (2016-2019), ce projet intègre 11 universités en Europe et en Asie.

Transformative Agency in Workers’ Account: Tensions in Professional Development

In the work market's current social and cultural conditions, individuals are pushed to continuous change to transform their professional and personal lives. The interests and socio-material constraints help understand the personal and professional path shape. In this paper, we will focus on how a group of workers expressed transformative agency in their narrative accounts, how it evolves and the influence of the interests and socio-material constraints on the expression of agency. To pursue this objective, we interviewed twelve workers that moved from Italy to France. From the transcription and the analysis, we have identified four dimensions in their account to make sense of their career path: conflicts of motives to act; wandering actions in global cultural (dis)fluency; activation of resources toward an (in)definite interest; sensorial and material mobility.

Teacher-Researcher Collaborations: Negotiations of Research Practices in School

This paper focuses on the relationship between classroom teachers in secondary educational instit... more This paper focuses on the relationship between classroom teachers in secondary educational institutions and researchers affiliated with educational research departments housed in postsecondary institutions. The research analyses the negotiation between teacher and researcher collaboration in co-design-based research. A case study of teacher-researcher collaborations is presented. From the data, selected episodes from video recordings of teacher, student, and researcher interactions are analysed, supported by interviews and observations. A qualitative methodology is adopted, drawing on embodiment and sense-making interactions analysis. Three levels of negotiation are considered: a) the research and researcher presence in the classroom; b) the research's influence on the teaching practices; and c) the impact of the research practices on the educational community. Starting from the three dimensions analysed, we reflect on considerations for implementing teacher-researcher collaboration in co-designed research projects.

Posthumanism perspectives see the relationship between humans and technology in interconnected wa... more Posthumanism perspectives see the relationship between humans and technology in interconnected ways exploring cognition, perception, and awareness co-developmental implications with technology. This article focuses on the interplay between technical objects and the baby niche of development. Two main concepts will guide the discussion: posthuman mimesis and the affective dimension as a possible regulative mediator for object-subject relationships. The broad research question is: How do babies deal with increasingly complex technology daily? Which regulative role does mimesis and affective scaffolding play in regulating babies-technical objects relationship? Considering the two main concepts of baby mimesis and affective scaffolding, I discuss two examples of two babies (one boy and one girl of about 1 year old) via a naturalistic observation of babies interacting with the smartphone. The baby's niche becomes a mimetic and affective space where the interaction is enacted. The article questions the relationship with the technological in a subject and object dialectic in a time of digital, social, technological, and economic significative transformation.
