Users confused by "content is not deflated" error when attempting to publish
Open, Needs TriagePublicBUG REPORT

Description

Wiki Education has had two reports recently of users getting an error message, "content is not deflated", when attempting to save edits.

I think the context is copying content from a sandbox to a mainspace article on English Wikipedia, using VisualEditor. Beyond that, I'm not sure what triggers the error.

Event Timeline

I guess the error message was 'deflate-invaliddeflate': "Content provided is not properly deflated"?

This may be related to recent work on T235237, and probably depends on the browser. It would probably be useful to know which browser they're using and its version number.

Yes, that's correct.

I've requested this information, and will report back if either of the users respond.

We should check logstash for this. If the error rate has increased significantly we should consider backporting a partial revert.

One case of it happened in Safari 16.4.1 .

Safari version 16.5.2, yeah it used to be fine but recently it's not maybe 2 weeks give or take Wentwort12 (talk) 06:57, 24 December 2024 (UTC)
