Split language Buginese (bug) to bug and bug-bugi
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

In practice, most of the localization and most of the content in the Buginese Wikipedia is in the Latin script. Some localizations are in the Buginese script (a.k.a. Lontara, ISO code Bugi), and they should be properly split.

Discussed at https://bug.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Warung_Kopi&oldid=202962#Lontara_and_Latin_in_the_user_interface .

I believe we should do the reverse:
If a spoken language is written in (and translated into) more than 1 script, we should always specify script.

I would say those are some kind of unmigrated / historical to-dos.

With the merge of https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/c/mediawiki/extensions/UniversalLanguageSelector/+/938649 , this is done, and will be deployed on Wikipedia on the train.
