Water Springs as a Resource for Nature Tourism in Latvia: a Tourist Perspective

Water springs are considered as one of the important natural resource for tourism due to its soci... more Water springs are considered as one of the important natural resource for tourism due to its socioeconomic, cultural, health and religious benefits. Tourists are motivated to visit the water springs due to various reasons like sacredness, health benefits, education and cultural enrichment. Latvia is blessed with several water springs, which are potential attractions for the sacred water or holy water tourism. There are several studies conducted on various aspects of water springs in general. However, the research in the context of tourism, particularly motivations and interest of tourist is very scant. In this regard, aim of the paper is to know the motivations and potential benefits of the water spring tourism to tourist in Latvia. Initially authors reviewed existing literature to know the state of the spring tourism. Semi structured interviews and online-survey method to obtain visitors responses. Interviews were held with the visitor, covering various aspects like motivations and benefits of water spring tourism. To the best of the author's knowledge, very few studies conducted on spring tourism in Latvia, to provide a detailed overview on tourist motivations and potential benefits of visiting water spring tourism. Overall, the study results provide the basis for understanding the most frequently visited water spring resources by the tourists in Latvia. Nature appreciation, natural setting followed by mineral and health benefits are the major reasons to visit the water springs. Further, it allows decision makers to incorporate tourist opinion and their suggestions in the sustainable planning, promotion and management of water springs as tourist destinations in Latvia.

Resilience Adaptations in Tourism Education for the Post-COVID-19 Era -A Study of India

Purpose: The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in vital implications for tourism education and curri... more Purpose: The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in vital implications for tourism education and curricula, and the education effectiveness in times of crisis ought to be resilient in the light of its preparedness, response and recovery policies and research. Purpose of the study is to analyse the academic practices in tourism education with a specific focus for incorporating the resilient adaptation strategies. Design/Methodology/Approach: The study is conducted using content analysis of published data along with interviews with heads of the tourism educational institutions. Findings: Very few universities are offering courses on resilience and disaster management as part of the curriculum in the tourism study programmes. Originality/Value: The chapter provides strategies on the effective integration of resilient tourism policy and practices as mitigation measures into the tourism education system with a special emphasis on disaster prevention, mitigation and vulnerability reduction at the destinations in the post-COVID-19 scenario.

Deccan plateau is the large plateau in India, making most of the southern part of India and Hyder... more Deccan plateau is the large plateau in India, making most of the southern part of India and Hyderabad is the biggest city in the plateau, whose rocks provide unique spectrum of geoheritage and geo diversity from the oldest (nearly 2.5 billion years) to youngest spectacular granite rock formations. These graceful boulders in a variety of shapes and sizes have withstood the vagaries of nature and its elements for ages. These geomorphic expressions are the part of rock-scape and are potential sustainable sites of biodiversity. The floristic-faunal elements and medicinal plants invariably associated with the rock sites. These formations are in danger and disappearing due to unsustainable development, rapid urbanization and mindless development. To prevent the indiscriminate destruction of this natural geological heritage, a group of artists, environmentalists and photographers from Hyderabad formed a registered society called Society to Save Rocks in Hyderabad. This article will explain about the geological heritage (granite rocks), its importance. The main objective of the articles is to know the role of Society to Save Rocks in promoting, protecting and preserving spectacular rock formations of Deccan and sustainable development of heritage city Hyderabad. Study is conducted by collecting both primary and secondary data and data is analyzed using appropriate methods.

India is the home to large number of indigenous people, who are still untouched by the lifestyle ... more India is the home to large number of indigenous people, who are still untouched by the lifestyle of the modern world. With more than 84.4 million, India has the largest population of the tribal people in the world. Each tribe has its own identity and culture which varies greatly from each other. The tribes have their distinct socio-economic, cultural, political and religious institutions which are important part and parcel of cultural heritage of India. They have contributed immensely towards the history and culture of India. At present there do approximately six hundred and ninety seven tribes inhabit in different parts of India. More than half of the Indian tribal population is concentrated in the states of Central India which consists of plateaus and mountainous belt between Indo-gangrtic plain to the north and roughly to the Krishna River to the south.. The present book ‘Recent Researches on theTribes of Central India’ contains 43 articles ranging the various aspects of life and culture of the tribes of central India which includes economy and livelihood, ethnohistory, religion and rituals, education, language and literature, ethnography, culture, ethnomedicine, art and craft, tourism, violent, conflicts, conservation and protection of tribal cultural heritage, change and development etc. The subject matter of the study includes the areas of anthropology, sociology, history, political science, economics, folklore studies, religion studies, tribal and fine arts, museology, ethnology, ethnomedicine, tribal studies, regional studies etc.

Purpose: The purpose of the paper is to review the existing landscape of consumption and producti... more Purpose: The purpose of the paper is to review the existing landscape of consumption and production in wildlife tourism and, more precisely, discuss how tiger tourism is packaged and produced as a product or commodity for the consumption of wildlife tourists. In doing so, the study explores the issues and challenges for responsible consumption and production (SCP) of wildlife tourism in the context of progress toward sustainable development goal (SDG12) responsible consumption and production.
Design/methodology/approach: The paper combines an analysis of existing literature and insights from the tiger reserve stakeholders. Qualitative analysis using semi-structured interviews and participant observation methods are used to derive insights.
Findings: This paper explores the status of SCP of wildlife tourism, particularly tiger tourism in Indian national parks. The paper then discusses the implications of SCP for various stakeholders in wildlife tourism.

Originality/value: This paper explores the perspective of SCP in wildlife tourism, and it provides innovative approaches that stakeholders should adopt.
