The first section presents the problem of the study, its importance, methodology, and review of literature. The poem of “?araaka ؟asiyya dam؟’ (I Found You a Tear-Refractory) for Abi-Firaas Al-Hamdani, represents the main code of the study through which the two researchers try to approach the stylistic and psychological studies. To accomplish such an approach, they try to link between a group of the poet’s psychological characteristics and another group of prominent stylistic phenomena found in the poem. The conclusion contains the main results the two researchers have arrived at.

The introduction highlights the significance of the study: highlighting the quantitative and the qualitative dimensions of prosodic analysis, the problem of the study: the terms describing prosodic variations without considering what they share in common, the objectives of the study: reducing the number of ʿilal by grouping the ones that belong to the same phonemic law, the methodology: the digital syllabification technique that addresses both the quantitative and the qualitative dimensions of phonemic syllables, and a review of relevant literature. The first section addresses the quantitative as well as the qualitative dimensions of the phonemic syllables that make up the rhythmic nuclei in verse foot as represented in the poetic major variation of addition. It also distinguishes between the ʿilal of addition that are limited to the quantitative change and those in which there are both quantitative and qualitative changes. The second section classifies the types of quantitative and qualitative change combinations in ʿilal of addition into four categories. The third section is concerned with studying compound ʿilalsuch as the occurrence of two major variations at the same time, or the occurrence of a major variation and a minor variation (ziḥāfāt)in terms of quantity and quality, and seeks to reach a general criterion that governs the harmony and cacophony of these ʿilal.

Why ears of Arabs take delight in the abundance of Alzehaf despite the imperfection of their quantity? Why ears of Arabs relish Alalla despite the flaw of their quantity which jeopardise the verse. Why have our poetic metrics singled out. why has Alzehaf not affected Alawtad ? why the ears of Arabs enjoy the lack of a vocal syllable?. Why has some Alal taken after Alzehaf? Why has Khalil ignored the poetic meter of Almotadarak;. How can the differenceof this metre from Khalil meters be explained? In conclusion، I have presented the outcomes I have reached.

The introduction highlights the major areas of the research such as the title, definitions, the research problem, the research aims and objectives, the limitations of research, previous studies, the methodology, and the sections of research. I have explained that the word (love) has a cultural significance in the poetry of Al-Baha' Zuhair. Thus, I explained the notion of 'love', the image of 'the female loved one'. In the conclusion, I showed the results of the research.

The purpose of this study is to identify the two dimensions of Arabic prosody: the metrical-quant... more The purpose of this study is to identify the two dimensions of Arabic prosody: the metrical-quantitative and the numeral-qualitative, through studying "Zahhafat" (i.e. changes made to the second phoneme of the morphological pattern) in Arabic poetry, as well as testing the validity of the Quantitative Theory in explaining Arabic prosody. The study also aims to critique some models that were used to explain the nature of Arabic prosody, such as depending on the number of letters in classical numeral prosody. One last objective of the study is to provide scientific justifications for accepting or rejecting some "Zahhafat", each of which needs scientific evidence to support. A number of poetic examples on "Zahhafat" has been collected and screened out as to be restricted to those Zahhafat that are governed by the sound rules, which in turn govern the change without relying on to the linguistic quantity only in formulating such rules. Thus, a combination of 'linguistic quantitative symmetry' and 'proportionality of the quality' has resulted in through 'parallelism and contrast' of the poetic kernels that form the patterns on two levels: the poetic pattern and the poetic verse. This has been adopted as a criterion for accepting and liking poetry Zahhafat or rejecting and disliking them. The paper has concluded that any given Zahhaf (sing. of Zahhafat) is restricted to three main quantitative linguistic changes, each of which consists of many Zahhafat. And each type of them is distinguished with a special numeral quantity, that is, there is no qualitative numeral change in the first type, the presence of unusual numeral change in the second type due to lack of one kernel element (i.e. Assabab Aththakeel: a two-vowel cluster) in one sound syllable, the presence of a likeable numeral change in the second type due to the transformation of Assabab Aththakeel into Assabab Al-Khafeef (i.e. a vowel-consonant cluster). It is also possible to have two types together at the same time, which can be referred to as synthetic Zahhahhaf. The study recommends studying the situations in which the Arabic poetry appreciation draws on physical quantity in the following Zahhafs: Idmar, the A'sab, E'llat Alqata' in Hashu Almutadarak And by studying the correlation between lexical meaning and the idiomatic meaning of Zahhafat and E'lal. Studying the unpleasant Zahhafat and synthetic ones has been will be taken in future research by the author, who calls on all Arab poets to avoid taking such disapproved Zahhafat.

I explained the first criterion which was employed by Al-Sakkaki in studying this stylistic feature namely: to understand the speech according to its contextual meaning and the situation the speech is used in, and then the second criterion which is to understand the speech contrary to its contextual meaning, ie, to select specific grammatical patterns to suit the context and the situation. First, I attempted to link between these two criteria and rhetorical notions. Secondly, I explained the stylistic selection and stylistic deviation and change which is grammatically unacceptable but remains an acceptable stylistic pattern.
