Purpose: To assess the attitudes of Qazvin’s medical practitioners toward their earlier research projects. Methods: The views of 202 physicians (residents, general practitioners, specialists and sub-specialists) who were practicing in Qazvin province and had been graduated between 1986 and 2001 were collected with a selfadministered structured questionnaire. Results: Most research projects did not received any facilities from their universities. Only 2.5% had received financial support. Of 202 physicians, 60.9% received no supervision in choosing their research projects topics. Most research projects had little or no impact on the scientific and practical skills, future careers and their postgraduate residency program. Increasing pressure to follow a vision on complete health care organizations, better quality and ... more Increasing pressure to follow a vision on complete health care organizations, better quality and excellence selection systems has become one of the main concerns for organizations and their managers.. Objective: The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between the level of ISO 9001-2008 quality management system and altering indictors of quality effectiveness in Rasht Hospitals. Methods: This is a descriptive and correlational study which was performed in three ISO-certified hospitals. The degree of ISO implementation measured using the requirements of ISO 9001 standards through questionnaires. Data of quality effectiveness indictors were compared using dependent T-test before and after the implementation when determining the mean and coefficient of variation. Results: There was a significant relationship between some indicators of quality effectiveness such as patient satisfaction, number of inspected complaints and improved procedure within implementations of ISO quality system (p<0.05). On the other hand there was no significant difference between the mean alteration of the average length of patient's hospitalization before and after the placement. Conclusion: Create a systemic visualization of the powerful tool such as ISO quality management system and imperative practical performance system in one organization discriminent addition to correcting systems and improving staff performance, will improve some indicators of hospital.

Background: Quality improvement in delivering healthcare services is the main mission of every he... more Background: Quality improvement in delivering healthcare services is the main mission of every health system. Safe surgery checklist was introduced by World Health Organization (WHO), and hospitals were required to use it to reduce the risk of surgery-related mortality and morbidity. This study aimed to determine study hospitals' compliance with safe surgery checklist in 2016. Methods: A retrospective, descriptive study was done in training general hospitals affiliated by Qom University of Medical Sciences from April to June 2016. All surgery checklists in this period were collected, and its use regarding to each operation was mentioned. Data were entered into SPSS version 20 and analyzed through descriptive statistical tests and One-way ANOVA. Results: A total of 1771 surgeries in six university hospitals performed in three months study period and their related surgery checklists were investigated. The overall use and completion rate of checklists were 74%. Among which the sign-in, time-out, and sign-out items compliance were 58%, 16%, and 26% respectively. Conclusion: The overall compliance rate of safe surgery checklist was satisfactory except for time-out and sign-out processes. Complimentary training and regular assessment of checklist utilization could be suggested to ensure the positive attitude among operating room's staff about the value of such a safety tool in improving patient safety.

Background: Out-of-pocket payment encompasses the costs that patients pay for healthcare services... more Background: Out-of-pocket payment encompasses the costs that patients pay for healthcare services, which is an inefficient approach to healthcare financing as it may lead to poverty. Objectives: The present study aimed to determine the risk of catastrophic health expenditures due to non-medical costs in the outpatients in Qazvin, Iran. Methods: This cross-sectional survey was conducted on 341 outpatients referring to the internists of Velayat Hospital and Bu-Ali Sina Hospital in Qazvin. The required data were collected using a researcher-made questionnaire and the prescriptions of the patients. Out-of-pocket payments were defined as the direct medical and non-medical costs within one month. Results: The mean out-of-pocket payments of the patients in one month was 49.97 dollars, 75.8% of which covered direct medical cost (disease diagnosis and treatment), and 24.2% covered direct non-medical costs to receive health services. Findings: The rate of gestational complications including hypertension (P=0.03), preterm delivery (P=0.03), and premature infants (P=0.02) were lower in mothers who received integrated maternal health care. Moreover, the referral rate for the group with integrated maternal health care was higher compared to the one with routine health care (P=0.001). Conclusion: The results of this study showed that, despite the implementation of almost 60% of the integrated maternal program in the city of Alborz, it seems that the program had a positive impact on reducing gestational complications and promoting maternal health.
