It is a critical issue to adjust and control the subsurface mine climate based on the heat source... more It is a critical issue to adjust and control the subsurface mine climate based on the heat sources in airway and the temperature changes,heat gain and loss of key locations. By improving the traditional Fourier heat transfer model,a three-dimensional heat transfer model based on the actual cross-sectional shape of the ventilation airway was formulated. The momentum related boundary conditions which can reflex the velocity and quantity changes for different airway profiles also was specified,which associated with the time parameter to reveal the formation of heat conduction and exchange inside the strata and between the rock and airflow,and the heat transfer equation between wet wall and airflowwas given at the meantime. The common engineering practice for evaluation of mechanical properties of concrete requires destructive testing of selected samples which are either pre-casted or extracted from the structure. A more rapid and less costly practice for obtaining mechanical properties of concrete are nondestructive testing methods. Generally speaking, nondestructive testing methods are applied on concrete for three main purposes. The first category are the tests which estimate the in-situ strength directly, such as surface hardness, penetration resistance and pullout techniques. The second category are the tests which measure the properties of concrete such as moisture, density, compressive wave velocity, modulus of elasticity, thickness, and temperature. To be competitive on the international market, the Canadian mining industry must reduce its costs... more To be competitive on the international market, the Canadian mining industry must reduce its costs, increase its productivity and maintain a high standard of safety. There is a great need today for improved methods that would allow the detection of geological structures in advance of mining to reduce dilution and the monitoring of underground structures to increase safety. This will facilitate planning for optimum exploitation of the mine and to increase production at lower costs. This paper discusses two examples of more efficient mine planning using new technologies such as Ground Probing Radar (GPR). COLTO requires that the PI of the -0.075 mm fraction shall not exceed 12 without any qualification. If the PI exceeds 12, the material shall be chemically modified. After chemical modification the PI of the -0.075 mm fraction shall not exceed 8. The Technical Committee involved in the COLTO 1998 edition based these criteria.
