The restoration project developed in the awareness that the site needed, not just a set of technical operations, but also of a critical act that led to the drafting of a project not only reversible, recognizable and compatible but above all a sustainable restoration. This is to be considered as a moment of confrontation between archaeologists and architects and follows on from the book written by Andrea Arrighetti, Rocca San Silvestro: Archeology for the restoration, published in 2017.

Esso si apre, infatti, alle valutazioni e al confronto aperto con la città e il mondo accademico. La rassegna offre uno 'spaccato' sulla didattica e la ricerca prodotta dai docenti, ricercatori e collaboratori della Sezione Restauro. Nella fattispecie, do

The problem of studying, registering, cataloguing and recording information about historical centres and their stratification is well known; in fact, often a quantity of information, gathered while drafting research and analysis data, or also simply while copying the paperwork attached to building plans that were put forward, is lost because it is not filed correctly, or because not all the possible filing systems are known to us.

Gioiosa Guardia was founded in 1364 on a rocky hill where a pre-existing farmhouse already existed. The center grew around a tower of Frederick II up to count, according to the sources, four churches and some oratories. At the end of the 18th century earthquakes and famines led the inhabitants, thanks also to the decrease of pirate raids on the coast, to abandon the mountain settlement to found the current Gioiosa Marea; the abandonment thus favored the process of degradation and ruderalization of Gioiosa Guardia. After the transfer to the coast, which took place not without resistance from the citizens, the site gradually fell into neglect. Even today, despite the abandonment and a certain distance of modern Gioiosa, the link with the original settlement remains strong in the collective memory ...

According the 1427 cadastre the building is accountant as build and actually used by the family. After the death of the Uzzanos brothers, the building passes trough wedding to the Capponi’s family. The name “Rovinate” comes form the continuous landslides happening in that area, for this reason the name Rovinate, comes from. The relief of the building and the analysis of the deterioration, architectonical and structural, have affected mostly the basement, ground floor, mezzanino and the under roof areas, the intermediate levels were not accountable of relief, because the are residential. Although, they were inspected, and the cracking framework seems aligned with the rest of the evidence. The conducted studies allowed us to understand the evolution phases of the structur...

Among the most important archimandriato of the Holy Savior of Messina, main church of the order, and the monastery of San Filippo of Demenna (or Fragala), near to Frazzano, in the province of Messina. The two monasteries are linked not only by the period of the foundation but also from the relationship between both the Norman house of Sicily, in fact Adelaide del Vasto, wife of Roger I and mother of Roger II, despite being the cause of the Latinization of the island protect both monasteries and endows them with possessions that ensure survival. Both buildings are the subject of the restoration based on an anti-sismic intervention, the archimandriato in the first half of the seventeenth century, while Fragala in the first half of the twentieth century, in both cases we see how the focus on the existing structures and the use of materials try to ensure the buildings "d...

Over the last ten years since 2009, several earthquakes hit the center of Italy, damaging large and medium-sized historic towns and small rural villages, in some cases these urban agglomerations have been completely destroyed. From this point of view, attempts have been made to develop historic city analysis methods that allow to read the fragility, starting from the urban survey of both single building units and large urban areas. Highlighting the dangers, which are the result of ancient construction techniques, anthropic problems, geological localization, etc., by creating a thematic cartography that identifies the different levels of structural degradation to which the various priorities of intervention are related.
