The author wonders whether inside Jesus' relationship with God there is the interpretative principle of Christologic-trinitarian identity of Universal Saviour; whether Jesus Christ's universal mediation has its roots in the uniqueness of His relationship, with God in the Holy Spirit, through which the religious experience of believers and the access to the salvation of every man are made possible. The article is divided into three main moments. The first one is historical-biblical and considers Jesus' religious experience, trying to point o...

By using the phenomenological approach, the author wants to underline - especially in the Gospels - the figures and the modalities through which the relational dimension of God, revealed in the Son Jesus, comes out. The face of God, can be seen in the lineaments of Jesus, in his human and religious experience.

At first, we outline the central perspective of book Jesus of Nazareth (2007), written by J. Ratzinger-Bendict XVI, according the permanet question about the historical Jesus and the Christ of the faith. The central thesis of the book is that the Jesus of the Gospels is the real and historical one. In the second part, after a short mention of the question's research and contemporary issues, we show the main problems and solutions. In the third part, we come back to the theologian - pope proposal, in the light of his precedent apport of the book Introduction to Christendon (1968) and his developpment about faith and reason in the Regensburg's Lecture (2006). Finally, we propose a methodological conclusion about Jesus before and after Paschal event, according the calcedonian dogmatic principle: to distinguish without to separate.

Generally, they show a kind of zigzagging between the traditional heritage of faith and some astonishing opennesses. Among the main issues, regarding the relationship between Christ's mystery and Church's mission, some need to be highlighted: a) the relationship of love between God and humankind. It is fulfilled in the Easter event and understood in a perspective that overpasses the idea of the centrality of sin that only redemption could save from (RH 1); b) the Church's mission. It is justified by the wonder that men experiment before God's gift of His child, through the Spirit (RH 10); c) the Spirit's work which is present in all men's hearts, through the "Word's seeds". It makes universal, in societies, cultures and religions, the salvific value of the Christological event (RM 28).

Following a careful examination of related Congresses and Journals publications, the Author points out a substantial non-reception of the encyclical letter's message, i. e. the claim to retrieve the metaphysical dimension of truth as the foundation of a critical and discerning dialogue with the past and present philosophical thought. The Author highlights the importance of theology and of a formative commitment for the young generations. From this standpoint He outlines the intellectual's role and responsibility for the future. In particular, He focuses on the theologians and their relation with the truth of Christianity and calls upon them to display a firmer and steadier commitment.
