Therefore, it is necessary to work collaboratively so that all actors and echelons of the chain benefit equally in strategic, tactical, and operational decisions. In this paper, we developed a mixed-integer linear programming model for the collaborative planning of the pineapple supply chain. The model allows the articulation and planning of the production and distribution echelons, considering the production planning and the transportation process, to maximize profits and increase the efficiency of the sector. We applied the model to the pineapple supply chain in the municipality of San Marcos, Sucre, Colombia. We carried out a characterization of the current state of pineapple production and distribution. Then, the mathematical model was developed and finally, the model was evaluated by developing analysis scenarios to make effi...

Also, it has taken an important trend on environmental care in consideration of the negative environmental impact generated by the emissions resulting from transportation. Another relevant aspect of environment care is the collection of solid wastes due to the high quantities generated by human activities. In this paper, we developed a bi-objective model for routing vehicles for solid waste collection that considers the minimization of costs associated with both vehicles and CO2 emissions. The model considers heterogeneous fleet, capacity, hard time windows, and speed variation in an urban center. A case study in the Caribbean region of Colombia is studied, with a total of 50 nodes in the network. Because of the computational hardness, nodes are clustered in five sets of 10 nodes to obtain optimal solutions. The sum of costs showed a reduction of 9.447% compared to current costs (50 ...

Given the negative impacts of transport and tourism on the environment, sustainability criteria play an important role. The Tourist Trip Design Problem is related to the design of itineraries for tourists. Planning is complex in tourist regions of developing countries where the information associated with tourist activities is difficult to access, vague, and incomplete. With this information, tourists must plan their trip, and the conditions and limitations they establish for it are flexible and imprecise. Fuzzy optimization can address problems with this type of information and constraints. Therefore, in this paper, an analysis of the tourism supply chain is carried out, taking as a case study the Department of Sucre on Colombia's Caribbean coast. A Multiconstraint Multimodal Team Orienteering Problem with Time Windows and fuzzy constraints is developed t...

Inspired by an application in a medium-sized city in Latin America, this paper develops a bi-objective mixed linear integer programming (MILP) model to locate different types of urban logistics spaces (ULS) for the configuration of a two-echelon urban distribution system. The objective functions seek to minimize the costs associated with distance traveled and relocation, in addition to the costs of violation of time windows. This model considers heterogeneous transport, speed assignment, and time windows. For experimental evaluation, two operational scenarios are considered, and Pareto frontiers are obtained to identify the efficient non-dominated solutions to select the most feasible ones from such a set. A case study of a distribution company of goods for supermarkets in the city of Barranquilla, Colombia, is also ...

The quality and safety of the product must be ensured throughout the transport process. In this sense, vehicle routing problems (VRP) are considered an effective tool for decision-making in the procurement process. There are several variants of this problem that are applied according to the context, such as simultaneous pickups and deliveries. This approach is highly applied in reverse logistics and processes that involve loading and unloading products at the same point. In this paper, we develop a vehicle routing model that considers simultaneous pickup and delivery, multi-depot, heterogeneous and capacity fleet for milk collection in the dairy supply chain. Real instances of raw milk collection from the municipality of Galeras, Sucre were used to validate the model. A 6.98% reduction in costs was obtained in the route evaluation. Keywords-Routing, simultaneous pickup and delivery, multidepot, milk.

In this paper, we developed a vehicle routing model with hard time window, multidepot, multiproduct and heterogeneous fleet for the minimization of the distance travelled. We applied the model to a case study of a company that distributes water bottles and bales in which we made a new distribution of delivery schedules by order applied Pareto analysis. We obtained optimal computational results using exact methods in a very short computational time and minimizing the distance to 35.08% of the current route.
Milk production is an important line within the agricultural sector and the economy of a country.... more Milk production is an important line within the agricultural sector and the economy of a country. In Mexico, the contribution of the agricultural sector to the nominal Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is 4.2 %, with a 30.2 % livestock share. This type of production has several improved systems to increase the profit rate. However, it is necessary to know the production costs associated with feeding cattle in terms of dry matter consumed. In this paper, we analyzed the variable feeding costs within the milk production process for high and low producing cows in a semi-specialized bovine system. We carried out diagnosis and information gathering processes, bromatological and milk production analyses, calculation of associated costs, and finally, the evaluation of cost reduction under the multi-criteria methodology of the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). Feeding costs associated with forage, silage, and concentrate feed were calculated, reaching 20.3 % and 21.9 % of the total income from...

PBL generates a collaborative learning process in the student, as well as self-learning and meaningful learning from a contextualized problem situation. This methodology arises to support the process of pedagogical change that occurs under the competency-based approach in higher education in order to generate active learning in students. In this paper, a five-phase methodology was developed (identification of the problem situation, organization of the work for collaborative learning, monitoring and support for self-learning, construction of applied solutions, and evaluations and feedback) to apply PBL in the Supply Chain Management course of the Industrial Engineering Program at Corporación Universitaria del Caribe (CECAR). A systematic literature review was carried out to identify the low application rate of the methodology in the field of industrial enginee...
