Traditional, archaic, 'primitive' cultures are a source of inspiration to visual artists: we can not ignore the combination of images, suggestions, cultural stratifications linked to wool, sheep breeding and textile practices.
Wool and textile materials are nowadays a common material for visual artists, just a few decades ago the scenario was totally different. Very hardly these materials were used in visual arts due to their fragility and lack of durability, along with the fact that textiles have been associated to creative activities carried within households by women, mostly for utilitarian use.
