I find the concept of diffraction to be of significant merit within feminist new materialist research and to that end, I am interested in assessing the concept’s versatility and in verifying its methodological value. Therefore, in my analysis, I aspire to explore diffractive watching as a set intention and methodology and watching diffractively as an active process and the different implications that will result if diffractive watching is applied as a lens and/or employed as a tool. Moreover, I consider the mapping of the films’ cartographical account to be a constituent part of diffractive watching which in this case functioned as the starting point for the analysis....

In other words, this study deploying the method of Autoethnography set out to research the materialities and normativities in (post)human-technology relations and the potential of these relations to operate as a means of resistance
Girlchildren’s sexual expression as a disruption to adult hegemonic notions on innocence and sexuality: A critical analysis of girlchildren’s representation in “Cuties”, 2021

This Thesis aims to test out the hypothesis that girlchildren's sexual empowerment disrupts the adult perceptions of what is entailed in being a girlchild by examining the reactions to girlchildren's representation in the highly controversial and arduously contested film "Cuties" (2020) written and directed by Maïmouna Doucouré. More specifically, this Thesis aims at investigating the notions of agency, innocence and sexuality as possible means to girlchildren's empowerment and disruption to adult hegemony underpinned by the perceptions of how girlchildren should behave and express themselves. The focus of the study is, thus, on girlchildren's potential to exert agency from their marginalized and oppressed position. In our study, we consider that within fictional spaces the construction of the child might offer counter-narratives to the prevalent discourses present both, in creator's own intentions and the viewers' reactions to them. To achieve our aims, we employed visual discourse analysis on the film posters, the film itself, and viewers' reviews posted online on the IMDB site.

The compelling role of gender has often been excluded from deliberations and studies regarding the issue of national identity and nationalism as culturally constructed forms of identity and "imaginary" figments of historical unity (Rodó-Zárate, n.d.). In this light, the scope of this paper is threefold; firstly, to investigate the idea of identity under the prism of gender and explore the correlation of national identity with that of the gender identity; secondly, to consider the significance of intersectionality in the formation processes of identification and identity; thirdly, to discuss vulnerability in terms of social positions by providing a brief illustration of the current Greek political landscape in order to associate the socially and culturally enforced identification as vulnerable bodies imposed upon certain individuals as an impediment in their living livable lives. In this essay, national identities are perceived as another form of oppression functioning in tandem with patriarchal notions and the normativities asserted by white male hegemony. In other words, national identities, as well as gender identities are conceptualized as conditioned identities that are socially and politically constructed. Keywords: gender, nation, nationality, patriotism, state of exception, vulnerability

It investigates pre-service and in-service EFL teachers’ attitudes towards translanguaging practices within the Greek context, and explores their need for further training on the incorporation of translanguaging strategies in their classrooms. The outcome thus of this study is an empirically-developed e-course based on the principles of distance training and learning, using a platform which has enabled pre- and in-service teachers to further their training in a pleasant and user-friendly manner. The content of the course has been informed by a needs analysis conducted by the researcher and after its development, it was implemented, evaluated and assessed. Finally, the evaluation of the course offers valuable data for potential improvements. Hence, this e-course may serve as a guide for EFL course developers who aspire to design courses with regard to the practices of translanguaging.
