Tale convenzione costituisce un atto aggiuntivo alla precedente convenzione n. 35 del 31/03/2005 che ha per oggetto la gestione della rete di controllo sismico, lo studio della sismicit a regionale e la ricerca sismologica a fini di protezione civile.

Italy) on April 13, 1996, causing damage to infrastructures which can be quantified as VIVA on the MCS macroseismic intensity scale. Local geology and topographic features seem to have strongly affected the areal damage distribution. In particular, the buildings in the central area of the village, built on soft alluvial deposits, suffered the most severe damage. We presume that these unconsolidated, shallow deposits are at the origin of amplifications of the seismic ground motion. The sharp velocity contrast between the sedimentary cover and the underlying bedrock traps seismic energy within the incoherent deposits producing ground motion amplifications. The data used in this study consist of waveforms of about 45 earthquakes recorded by, at most, eight 3-component stations installed in the Claut area. In this article, we describe the infrastructure developed and managed by the Italian National Ins... more In this article, we describe the infrastructure developed and managed by the Italian National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics – OGS for the seismological and geodetic monitoring of northeastern Italy. The infrastructure was constituted in response to the ML 6.4 Friuli destructive earthquake of 1976, with the main mandate of supporting civil protection emergency activities. The OGS monitoring infrastructure is presently composed of a seismometric and a strong-motion network, complemented by a number of Global Navigation Satellite Systems stations, each delivering observational data in real time, which are collected and processed by the headquarters of the Center for Seismological Research of OGS in Udine. The OGS networks operate in close cooperation with Italian and international networks from neighboring countries, within the framework of the agreements for real-time data exchange, to obtain improved rapid earthquake location and magnitude estimations. Quarry blasts, underwater explosions, and other dubious seismic events in NE Italy from 1977 to 2013

We have reexamined the phase readings of the Istituto Nazionale di Oceanografia e di Geofisica Sp... more We have reexamined the phase readings of the Istituto Nazionale di Oceanografia e di Geofisica Sperimentale (OGS) seismometric database, in the years 1977-2013, to isolate explosions and undefined events marked with peculiar codes and clearly tracked in the original full printouts of paper bulletins. Nowadays this tag is not easily available in online metadata, thus leading to erroneous interpretations of the seismicity patterns. We also performed a specific analysis on quarry blasts reported to the Geological Survey of the Trento Autonomous Province, and detected by the network in 2013. More than 4,400 events constitute a new prototypal database of artificial/ dubious earthquakes, potentially ascribed to anthropogenic or "induced" events; about 40% of them may be located with the standard procedures of OGS bulletins, even if some solutions are of bad quality. More than 1,000 events, which mainly occurred during the first decades of the monitoring of the northeastern Alps and reported in actual bulletins, have to be removed from data analysis of natural seismicity, and are easily traceable with the tool given as Supplementary Material.
