This study aims to examine the vertical compressive stress in the subgrade of Indonesia's ballasted track and two asphaltic rail track designs, asphaltic overlayment and asphaltic underlayment, under various cyclic loading conditions based on three different train speeds, 120 (low speed), 240 (medium speed), and 360 kph (high speed). The AC layer thicknesses for each asphaltic rail track design are as follows: 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, and 0.4 m for asphaltic underlayment, and 0.075, 0.15, 0.225, and 0.3 m for asphaltic overlayment. 2D finite element models and simulations were used to capture and predict the subgrade's vertical compressive stress performance. The most obvious finding to emerge from this study is that the asphaltic overlayment track has a greater capacity for transmitting and decreasing stresses from the top structure to subgrade layer than the asphaltic underlayment track and the Indonesia' ballasted track, respectively. This research can shed light on the prospective application of asphaltic rail track to the Indonesian rail network for the faster passenger trains operation.

The seismic refraction was found to be useful in the initial modeling of the subsurface and has managed to identify the water table, a bolder and the bedrock level satisfactorily. From the downhole seismic, P-wave velocity was found to be responsived to lithology and the water table, while the S-wave velocity was found to be able to characterise the residual soil in terms of their weathering grades. Correlations between the S-wave velocity (Vs) and dynamic shear modulus (Gseis) were established with the SPT (N) and the static unload reload shear modulus (Gur)of the pressuremeter tests. The relationship of Vs = 2.89N + 167.84 and Gseis (MPa) = 2.39Gur + 36.03 were obtained in this study.

POBA can be used to modify asphalt binder and asphalt mixtures to reduce the harmful effect of this waste on the environment. The objective of each modification is to increase the strength, stiffness, durability, workability and constructability of asphalt mixtures while reducing the environmental effects. This study examines the physical and chemical properties of 60/70 penetration-grade asphalt binder, modified using POBA and warm mix asphalt (WMA) additive. Ranges of modified binder were prepared by adding 2% of the warm additive Rediset with different POBA contents (3%, 5%, 7% and 9%) throughout the wet mixing process. Physical properties of modified binder were obtained from penetration, softening point, ductility and rotational viscosity tests. Molecular components and struct...

However, in layered PCC slab with strong stiffness contrast, several wave groups were observed due to the refraction and reflections of stress waves at the layer boundaries. As a result, the phase spectrum affected by these different wave groups is to be complicated. In this study, a time-frequency analysis of wavelet transform was then employed to impulse response analysis to overcome identification problem of the non-stationary wave groups and spectral characteristics of phase spectrum. Time-frequency wavelet spectrogram was utilized to select the interested response spectrum from wave groups. A time-frequency wavelet filtering was then used to remove the interference of unnecessary wave groups or background noise based on simple concept of wavelet filtering. Consequently, the phase spectrum was reconstructed from denoised impulse response by inverse wavelet transform. Results showed that the wavelet analysis of impulse response can be used to improve the phase spectrum and reconstruct better phase velocity dispersion curve. A good agreement was also established between the PCC stiffness from SASW measurements compared to ACI formulation.

In this paper, TQI application for Indonesian Railway (IR) has been reviewed and various methods to evaluate track quality have been presented. IR has been used TQI-Geometry in infrastructure maintenance works and accident investigation. UK SD Index, Netherlands Q Index, USA TRI, FRA TGI, Austrian TGI, Canadian TQI, SNCF’s MDI, Chinese TQI, Polandia J Coefficient, Indian TGI, and European Standard are some methods to evaluate track quality. However, their results rely only on a limited number of parameters and aspects of track deterioration. Those methods cannot provide a thorough indication of all influencing parameters and their role in track degradation. The author suggests that main track degradation should have 4 aspects: Track Super-Structural; Track Sub-Structural; Track Geometrical; Traffic, and furthermore, a new TQI should be developed by combining 3 index investigations: Track Irregularity, Track Settlement, and Track Geometry. Keywords: Track Quality Index, Track Degradation, Track Structure, Track Geometry, Traffic Parameters

ISASW technique is developed from the spectral analysis of surface wave (SASW) method which has been a well known nondestructive testing (NDT) for geotechnical and pavement structures. Surface wave propagation between a set of receivers were transformed to frequency domain using fast Fourier transform (FFT). Therefore, a phase spectrum was produced for measuring the time lag between receivers. A wavelet filtering on impulse response was used for constructing an enhanced phase spectrum. Using phase different method, an experimental dispersion curve was generated. Inversion analysis based on the 3-D stiffness matrix method was then performed in order to produce the shear wave velocity profile. The elastic modulus of pavement layer was calculated based on the linear elastic theory. In this paper, the performance of ISA SW measurement for determining the elastic modulus of pavement subgrade is presented in this paper. Verification on its elastic modulus obtained from ISASW technique was also conducted by using falling weight deflectometer (FWD) test. The result shows that the dispersion curves obtained in the ISASW test are sensitive to indicate the stiffness change in each layer of a pavement structure. Stiffer layer, i.e., pavement surface layer, can be indetified by the parameter of high frequency and phase velocity range; and vice versa. ISASW technique is also able to comprehensively investigate the elastic modulus of subgrade layer in exisiting pavement without any destruction. A good agreement of elastic modulus of subgrade layer from ISASW and FWD test was also pres ented.

Thousands of damaged houses, buildings and infrastructure have been reported with low to severe damage level. This research reports the effect of the Padang earthquake in terms of building damages and landslides that occured in the city of Padang, Padang Pariaman, Pariaman and Agam. Analysis on earthquake effects was carried out based on the geology, geotechnical, building damages and geohazards data collected from various sources and field works in affected areas. Results from field work showed that damages on the building structures in Padang and Padang Pariaman was due to the quality of construction which did not meet the building code and standard requirements, and the effect of geological conditions, i.e., ground amplification on deep layer of alluvial deposit. Some observed damage in the buildings were related to the building location constructed on the fault lines and soil or rock layers discontinuity. From the site vi...

Thus, the evaluation of subgrade quality is periodically needed for monitoring of the quality of the pavement so that it can be passed by moving vehicles without damage. The Spectral Analysis of Surface Wave-SASW, method is an in-situ non-destructive seismic testing method which is used for assessing the stiffness and the depth of road pavement structures including the subgrade layer in a fast and inexpensive manner. The objective of this paper is to present the capability of the SASW method in the assessment of the quality of pavement subgrade layer. The SASW method employed is based on the R-wave propagation. Using the phase difference data of Rwaves propagating in the surface of a pavement, the experimental dispersion curve of phase velocity is obtained. Consequently, inversion process is conducted to obtain the dynamic elastic and shear modulus of the pavement structure. The results showed that the SASW method was able to determine useful dynamic parameters for evaluation of the subgrade layer performance. Empirical models with good correlations were also derived from this study which can be easily used for in situ evaluation of the subgrade layer stiffness.

Factors of trip accessibility i.e. distance to work, travel time, cost for public transport and cost for private vehicle were also observed in the model. In this study, several households in Griya Taman Asri, Sleman Yogyakarta were chosen for questioner sample in home interview survey. Mathematical model was generated using the multi-linear regression with the dependent variable is work-trip which is affected by nine independent variables. The generated model was then validated by VIF and Anova test. The result shows that the work-trip generation model for Griya Taman Asri was influenced by parameter of the car ownership (X 2) and the worker in household (X 5). However, all trip accessibility factors considered in this study do not influence to work-trips.

investigation has also been developed (Stokoe et al., 1994). Seismic data used in surface wave analysis are non-stationary in nature, i.e., varying frequency content in time. Especially in the low frequency range measurement, i.e., in soft soil deposit, the interested frequency of surface wave can be relatively low, i.e., less than 20 Hz. In these frequency values, the noisy signals from the natural or man-made sources may disturb the identical frequency level of the surface wave signals generated from the source. Therefore, a time-frequency decomposition of a seismic signal is needed to obtain the correct information of
phase spectrum generated from signal transformation. In most of surface wave methods, the data analysis from time to frequency domain has been carried out by using Fourier
transformation. However, some information of non-stationary seismic data in analysis maybe lost due to any arbitrary periodic function of time with period which is expressed as sum a set of sinusoidal in Fourier transform. The Fourier analysis is unable to preserve the time dependence. In addition, it also can not describe the evolutionary spectral characteristics of non-stationary processes. Thus, a new tool, i.e., wavelet analysis is
required which allows time and frequency localization of the signals in the surface wave measurement beyond customary Fourier analysis.
