    Keynote on Balancing Global and Local Talent Management Strategies: Insights from Berlin 📣 Earlier this year, I convinced my colleague Carolin Starke (nee Voss) to join me on stage at the Talent Management Reloaded Europe conference in Berlin. Last week, we finally shared our insights on balancing global Otto Group and local Hermes Fulfilment DACH talent strategies. It was a huge pleasure to be on stage with Caro, representing the Otto Group Holding's perspective and, alongside me, that of a subsidiary on talent management. The conclusion is clear: there isn't a perfect procedure (global vs. local talent management), but rather a need for a clear central framework with flexibility for subsidiaries. Success lies in the awareness among everyone that there isn't a single solution. Regular, open communication and a participative approach led to jointly developed measures like #YourNextMove. The feedback on our case study was both great and enriching. I was thrilled by the inspiring insights, the high professional level of the speakers and participants, and the trusting exchange about successes and also challenges in implementation. Regardless of company size or location, similar challenges and opportunities in the future of talent management emerged. A big thank you to all participants, speakers, and the organizers, Martyna Bezrak and Ralph Köppen, for this enriching experience.     🌍 Total Rewards Reloaded Europe Conference, Berlin 🌍 Over the past two days, I had the privilege of attending the Total Rewards Europe Conference, hosted by we.CONECT - Discover a unique B2B event experience! It was an honor to moderate the "Challenge Your Peers" session yesterday, where we explored how technology and data analytics are transforming total rewards programs. During these two days, I connected with many HR professionals, exchanging insights on key industry trends like Job Architecture, Pay Transparency, and Mobility. We all walked away with valuable knowledge to apply moving forward. A special thank you to Martyna Bezrak for facilitating it!

    HR Strategy & Talent Management at Otto Group

    Discussing talent management of tomorrow & hosting a keynote at the Talent Management Reloaded Europe conference in Berlin! 💡 Last week my colleague Anne Nüsse from Hermes Fulfilment DE and I attended the 3-day conference and hosted a keynote on achieving synergies while balancing group and subsidiary talent management strategies in the decentral Otto Group. This is our day-to-day challenge we overcome with the following approach: 1. Generate solutions together on eye-level with all group companies. 2. Develop central frameworks which allow a certain degree of freedom. An initiative where we lived this participatory approach is #YourNextMove where Otto Group talent receive technical and personal support on their Group-wide career. They are added to a talent pool and advised by their talent broker. The initiative is open to all career levels and our employees can nominate themselves to steer their own careers. We exchanged ideas, discussed thought-provoking case studies and met amazing leaders in talent management from different companies interacting in different industries, countries and structures but with similar challenges ahead. My key takeaways: 1. Utilise a skill-based job architecture to evolve career paths in line with diagnostics, compensation, learning and development. 2. Multiply the benefits of the company structure through customised talent management strategies, with clarity about the structure as the basis. 3. Use AI to reduce manual work (while reskilling employees who have done the manual work for other, more meaningful work), gain insights into employee sentiment, support skills mapping and create a holistic employee experience. 4. Identify future roles ahead of time, ensure good succession planning and take employees on the journey. And finally, a big thank you to Anne Nüsse for asking me to co-host the keynote with her, to Susan Kröber and Ronja Liebnau for supporting this opportunity, to Martyna Bezrąk, Ralph Köppen and the team for organising and chairing the conference, and to all the interesting people I have met.     An absolute pleasure to share our thoughts on cross-border remote work, earlier this week at the Total Rewards Reloaded conference in Berlin 🇩🇪 I hope we did not scare too many delegates with our presentation. The fact is that, despite common perception and expectations, "working from anywhere" policies are currently not possible, as they are not supported by the current legislative landscape 🛑 We need an adaptive legislation that supports and simplifies a flexible cross-border workplace, even within the EU. Until then, companies can only protect themselves against any negative consequences by putting in place restrictive remote work policies ✋ Thank you Martyna for the invitation and Bianca for the qualified content.
