Prompt Canvas is our new interactive tool in LangSmith that streamlines the process of creating and optimizing prompts by collaborating with an AI agent. Instead of manually adjusting prompts, get expert insights from an LLM agent so that you can optimize your prompts as you go.

How to Use Prompt Canvas

Prompt Canvas is built with a dual-panel layout:

Chat Panel

In the chat panel, you’ll interact with the LLM agent to:

• Request prompt drafts or make adjustments to existing prompts. Each request generates a new version you can refine and compare.

• Ask questions, like “What improvements can I make?” or “Is my prompt too lengthy?”

Canvas Panel

The canvas is your hands-on workspace where you can:

• Edit your prompt directly.

• Highlight text to get targeted feedback or make specific adjustments.

• Use quick actions to refine your prompt instantly. Standard actions include adjusting the reading level or length.

You can also define custom quick actions to enforce prompt standards across your organization. This helps create more reusable actions that standardize prompt style, structure, and format across teams.
