The primary purpose of this paper is to highlight the properties of QR codes in an educational context; its history and area of usage, its generation and scanning, scanning applications and lastly the use of QR in education. Furthermore the paper provides concrete examples QR codes as online survey tools, voice embedded QR codes and worksheets, offline QR code activities and QR code embedded written worksheets.

This study samples the Turkish pre-service elementary teachers' beliefs about the nature of science. The questionnaire consists of two parts. In the first part five open-ended questions were used from Lunetta and Koul (1996) to asses pre-service teachers' ability to incorporate the nature of science in their teaching. The second part is based on Taylor and Frasers' cross-national study (1997) on constructivist classroom environments and science teachers' beliefs in Australia and Taiwan. The Beliefs About Science and School Science Questionnaire (BASSSQ) in that study was used to collect quantitative data on pre-service teachers' beliefs about the nature of science. The research was conducted in Fall 1996 at Marmara University Faculty of Education, Istanbul, Turkey. Twenty-one pre-service elementary teachers volunteered to respond the questionnaire. It was found that pre-service teachers believe in the objectivity of scientific knowledge and yet believe that it is subject to change.

Kimya eğitimi alanında yapılan bilimsel çalışmalar ülkemizde son yıllarda oldukça yaygınlaşmıştır. Bilimsel araştırmanın en temel amaçlarından birisi uygulamada yaşanan sorunlara çözüm üretmektir. Fakat bilimsel araştırmaların yaygınlaşmasına rağmen bunların uygulamaya yansıması konusunda önemli sorunlar göze çarpmaktadır. Bunun en temel sebeplerinden birisi uygulayıcıların bilimsel araştırmalara erişememeleri veya erişebilseler bile onu uygulamada yaşadığı sorunları çözebilecek şekilde anlayıp uyarlayamamak başta gelmektedir. Kimya öğretimi alanında uygulamada yaşanan eğitsel sorunların çözümüne katkı sağlayabilmek amacıyla hazırlanan bu kitapta, bilimsel olarak araştırılmış ve test edilmiş güncel öğretim strateji, yöntem ve tekniklerinin ortaöğretim kimya öğretimine uygun iyi uygulama örneklerini içermektedir.  Kitap özellikle eğitim fakültelerinin kimya eğitimi programlarında ve pedagojik formasyon gibi sertifika programlarında yer alan Kimya Özel Öğretim Yöntemleri I ve II derslerinde temel kaynak olarak kullanılmak üzere hazırlanmıştır. Ayrıca kitap kimya eğitimi konusunda araştırma yapan araştırmacılar ve hali hazırda çalışan kimya öğretmenleri içinde bir kılavuz niteliğindedir. Kitap içerisinde öğretim strateji, yöntem ve tekniklerine yönelik temel bilgilerin Öğretim İlke ve Yöntemleri ve/veya Öğrenme-Öğretme Kuram ve Yaklaşımları gibi derslerde öğrenilmiş olduğu varsayılarak ilgili strateji, yöntem ve teknik çok kısa bir şekilde tanıtıldıktan sonra onun ortaöğretim kimya öğretim programında yer alan konu ve kazanımlara uygulanışını konu edinen iyi uygulama örneklerine yer verilmiştir. Bu yolla uygulayıcıların herhangi bir öğretim strateji, yöntem ve tekniğinin kimya öğretiminde nasıl kullanılabileceğini öğrenebilmelerine katkı sağlamak amaçlanmıştır.  Bu nedenle kitap içerisinde kuramsal bilgiler sınırlı tutulmuş olup iyi uygulama örneklerine olabildiğince geniş yer verilmiştir. Ayrıca iyi uygulama örnekleri olabildiğince farklı kimya konularından seçilerek farklı öğretim strateji, yöntem ve tekniğinin tanıtılmasına da özen gösterilmiştir.  Yukarıda belirtilen yönleriyle değerlendirildiğinde alanında ülkemizde ilk olma özelliği taşıyan bu kitabın var olan kaynak ihtiyacını bir nebze de olsa gidereceğine ve kimya öğretimine zenginlik katacağına inanılmaktadır.

The aim of the present study is to elicit students' understanding of the particulate nature of matter via a cross-age study ranging from secondary to tertiary educational levels. A questionnaire with five-item open-ended questions was administered to 166 students from the secondary to tertiary levels of education. In light of the findings, it can be deduced that the number of students' responses categorized under the "sound understanding" category for each item increased with educational level, except for U1. Also, it can be concluded that students' specific misconceptions decreased steadily from SHS1 to SHS3, except for item 4, but there is surprisingly a clear increase at U1.

The aim of this study is to find out the effects of analogy-based and laboratory-based instruction on students' achievement of chemical equilibrium in comparison with traditional instruction. Quasiexperimental design was used. The sample was composed of 69 students selected from 11 th grade students in three different classes in an Anatolian High School in Trabzon. The classes were randomly determined as two experiment and one control group. In one of the experimental groups, the topics were instructed by using analogy-based instruction method, while laboratory-based instruction method was used in the other. As for the control group, no intervention was made during the instruction of the topic. A two-tier concept test, semi-structured interview and unstructured observation were used as data gathering instruments. This test was administered to all groups as pre-test and post-test and analyzed by using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS 10.0). The data collected with semistructured interviews was analyzed through descriptive analyses. In analysis of the unstructured observations, quotations were included as bullet points from notes taken during the implementations. At the end of the study a significant difference was found in favor of the laboratory group over analogy, and a significant difference was found in favor of the experimental groups over the control group.
