• Subscribe2 is no longer sending notifications of my posts. It no longer has an option to send when I “POST”. It says next post will be after a date in April of 3022 and will not let me change this date. I see the plus-in was updated 2 days ago. Obviously something is wrong with it. Please help!

I see you are answering all the recent questions with a standard answer saying you have tested the updated plug-in every which way you can, and it is working fine. This is obviously not the case, as it stopped working for me after the update. Can you please check and answer my problem, or I will have to abandon this plug-in after ten years for one that actually works.

    Hi @janetbblue ,

Thanks for considering Subscribe2 to serve your purpose. Till now, we haven’t experienced such an error that’s why I am sharing some basic scenarios to make sure you have fulfilled these.

–Make sure you have configured the Subscribe2 properly according to this doc: https://getwemail.io/docs/subscribe-2/getting-started-subscribe2/installation/ If you have done that, then navigate to Subscribe2-> Settings->Email Settings and check that you have configured the email setting correctly. Here you can select from whom the mail will be sent and when to send emails. For example, for each post, after 1 minute, 2 minutes, weekly, monthly, etc. You can check the details here.

–If you have done the above configuration accordingly then check the fourth step of the Email which is Send and make sure you haven’t put the character more than 100. Lastly, Check this with your hosting provider, they have access to your server logs and should be able to tell you where and why emails are being blocked. This may be a server-side limitation.
These restrictions broadly occur in three reasons, namely sender details, header details and restrictions on the number of messages sent.

Finally, check all the above basic scenarios and let us know the update.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

I am also broke on the resend since taking the update…not the original issue with the empty() call. This is different, and we do get passed that previous offending piece of code.

Also a long time user of subscribe 2, my guess here is that something is causing conflict in the database. The Settings page is not exact to the guide in the docs…I don’t get all the times realized under “Send Emails” for instance.

Probably just some old settings to toggle…can you provide any more insight as to what changed?

Please help…we have a lot of folks that rely on this plugin.

I am sorry you are experiencing the same problem I am, but maybe this will get the authors to take this seriously. I have found no way to fix this. The Settings page looks nothing like that in the guide! I have been searching for another plug-in to replace this and have not been successful. If you find one, please let me know. I did check with my hosting service, and they are not blocking these e-mails!

As an FYI I have reinstalled version 10.37 of subscribe2, overwritten the plugin code, removed 10.39. The 10.37 version is working as before…whew…

So I am in a holding pattern taking any subscribe2 updates.

Hi audept1, Can you please tell me how you did this? You are obviously more tech savvy than I am. I have no idea how to reinstall the older version or over write a plug-in code. If you can help me, I would be so grateful. Many thanks, Janet

    Hi Janet,

You will need to have access to your server…the plugins are located at something like:

    /home/<your_domain_username>/public_html/wp-content/plugins/subscribe2

The subscribe2 is the directory that needs to be removed and replaced with version 10.37.

I happened to have this last good version of subscribe2 as I have backups always being performed. GITHUB may have the previous versions..?.. if that doesn’t work I could gzip the directory and send it to you, or put it up on one of my static sites for you to download…you will have to unzip it and move it to the plugins directory. This replacement does not appear to adversely affect the code interaction withe database… we are lucky for now.

Once the old code has been placed into the plugin directory you should be good…you may have to deactivate and then activate the plugin via your admin -> plugins page on your wordpress.

The changes made in 10.39 are substantial, most cosmetic, but many php rewrites and logic changes included as well. This plugin is very important to me as well so wanted to try and see what we are dealing with.

While waiting for your reply, I installed the WP Rollback plug-in and have rolled back Subsribe2 to a variety of different versions and none of them are giving me a settings page that allows me to chose “POST” as an option for sending e-mail, and I am still getting “Next post will be after a date in April of 3022” and still cannot change this date.  https://thecatonmyhead.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=s2_settings

Do I need to contact my hosting service to get access to server or is this something I can do through my CHI panel?

As you can tell, though I have been blogging for ten years, so much of this is over my head! I am so sorry to bug you.

@rubyat13, I have the same problem with subscribe2 since the last plugin update. The plugin do not send emails anymore; it does not send emails for new posts and either with the menu page “Send email”.

When I send test emails with my email-plugin then the will be sent immediately and almost instantanously delivered in my emailbox. So there is no problem with my WordPress setup nor with the connection to my email provider.

I use this plugin with much pleasure for years and years now it never failed until the latest update. Please help!

Has stopped working for me too. I’ve installed mailpoet as a replacement in my staging area, but have just discovered that you can no longer export email addresses from Subscribe2! (“Export to CSV” works, but creates an empty file) So I’d have to manually re-add all my subscribers. Scratching my head for a solution. Suppose you get what you pay for…

I also am looking at MailPoet. I noticed as you did that making a CSV from Subscribe2 now creates an empty file. I do have a CSV from April 2022, and though this will be without more recent subscribers, I will be using it. I have used this plug-in successfully for ten years and am quite ticked off by this latest development. Let me know how MailPoet works for you. Maybe if the plug-in author finds enough of us complaining, they will make an effort to fix the mess they have created.

    Hi,

I have the same issues after Update to 10.39
No mails were send after a new post. Worked before for a long time.

    I recofigured everthing. No succes.

The preview Mails are sent, but the real mails are not sent anymore. Even Resend doesn’t work anymore.

    kind rgards

Thanks guys, will check out Mail Poet.

I also find it disturbing that I am constantly being asked to give permission to send Subscribe2 information, but yet they don’t seem to use it to fix reported problems. What is that information being used for?

I also have a list from early 2022 which will do me fine to import to another plugin.

    Udpate:

I reinstalled 10.37. an now it sends mails when publish a new post.
    summary for me:

    10.37.

Sending mails when publish new post – ok
Resend mail from older post – not ok
Send Test mail from older post – ok

    10.39.

Sending mails when publish new post – not ok
Resend mail from older post – not ok
Send Test mail from older post – ok

Since several people are facing the same issues, I think it’s something gerneral in this version. @rubyat13 I’ve direct access to my installation, so if there is any option/special version to debug it, I would try it. Let me know, what to do.

Update – Mentioned in another post here as well.

In settings If we set the “Restrict the number of recipients per email to (0 for unlimited).: 0 Edit” setting as shown to 0 voila the sending of email works..!.. YIPPEE

A setting of 1 was previously set and that is what we seem to have the problems. Hopefully not a coincidence. Trying to provide information here for the plugin authors. Thanks for maintaining the plugin for those of us that depend on this plugin 🙂
